Make a great kite book from one sheet of paper.  We love it as a simple diamond exercise book.  You might trim out 2 pages & spell out "K"  "I"  "T"  "E" on the 4 pages.  Be patient on steps 3 & 4.  By your second book, it will be easier to divide the paper into three parts.  Try more books!

1.  Hold 8 1/2 x 11" paper vertically.

2. Fold paper in half (top to bottom).

3. Begin to fold paper in even thirds, creating diagonal edges.
4. Complete folding paper in 3 equal parts. You have two diagonal edges to form the bottom of the diamond. 5. Sketch lines to make the largest diamond possible. Trim away upper right and upper left corners. 6. This leaves you with a diamond in many connected layers . . .
7. unfold the connected diamond shapes . . . 8. separate pages by carefully cutting between 2 diamond shapes  9. you may now fold up your six-page diamond book or. . .
10. To make a 4 page "kite" book, remove two diamonds...  11. ...then fold the diamonds into a book shape. 12. Decorate with a kite tail (add ribbons) & letters to spell kite!
