Wishing is a way to establish our goals
and to hope for the future. When you are in need of a simple activity that
requires no materials, try making a wish, or two, or more.
Here is one of our favorite activities for the summer, especially if you are
able to walk along the edge of the ocean or a pond! While you are walking,
search for a wishing stone. A wishing stone is a stone that has at least two
colors. One color is the basic color of the stone. The other color wraps all the
way around the stone in a "stripe". When we find wishing stones, we
collect them to keep in our pockets or to give as special gifts to friends &
family.
One nice wishing stone tradition is to select a special wishing stone from a
watery place that you enjoy, like the ocean. Then make a special wish on the
stone, for example, to come back to that special place again. Take the wish with
you or send it (gently or with a big splash!) back into the water!
